time standards

There are both national and state time standards. The purpose of time standards is to motivate swimmers to improve. state standardsIllinois state standards are used to set qualifying times for state meets. There are two levels of state meets: an "A" meet for swimmers with "A" times, and a Junior Olympics (JO) meet for swimmers with JO times.
Below are links to the state standards. During the fall and winter, all of the Flying Fish meets are in short course pools, i.e., 25-yard pools. In the summer, most of our meets are in 50-meter long pools; for these pools the long course meter times are applicable. You will need Acrobat Reader software to view and print these PDF files.
