The YWCA Flying Fish are a program of the
YWCA Evanston/North Shore located in
Evanston, Illinois. With 500 swimmers ranging in
age from 5-18, the Flying Fish swim team has become the largest swim team in Illinois.
We focus on the development of stroke mechanics while
striving to provide a competitive atmosphere for experienced swimmers and a fun
atmosphere for all swimmers. Team practice groups are
divided so that swimmers feel comfortable with team members of like age,
ability, and commitment level. Swim meets are optional, however, they are encouraged.
Swimmers are invited to join the team through participation in the
Learn-to-Swim
program at the YWCA. They are then placed into one of the practice groups. In

Halloween Party:
an annual event involving some fun swimming and lots of pizza. Parties take
place during practice times on Halloween week.

Parent Party:

another without a stop watch in one hand and a minivan illegally parked in the
lot. Sometimes involves fund-raising.
-
Team Banquet:
an annual celebration of all our swimmers have accomplished during the season.
Usually held in early May.
-
Evanston 4th of July Parade:
